BeXRB2024     31st Jul. - 2nd Aug. 2024 - Cape Town

First Announcement

We are pleased to announce the Be/X-ray binary 2024 workshop to be held in Cape Town (South Africa) on 31st July - 2nd August 2024, right before the IAU General Assembly.

Preceded by the great success of the previous editions and all the advances presented in 2021,  BeXRB2024 is expected to push further the research in this field, to enlarge the scientific community studying BeXRBs and similar objects, and to engage young students in the analysis of their properties with new approaches and techniques.

The key topics of the meeting will be:

• Phenomenology of BeXRB transient outbursts in the X-ray domain

• Timing studies of Be/X-ray binaries

• Transfer of mass: from decretion to accretion, observation and modelling

• Multi-wavelength observations and their implications

• Population studies: Be/X-ray binaries with WD and BH,  BeXRB population in external galaxies, birth places,...

• The high-energy gamma-ray connection.

• Prospects in the light of current and future space missions and multimessenger astrophysics

We will bring together scientists from different communities who have approached these topics from different fields of research, with the goal of reaching a clearer and deeper understanding of the physical processes involved.

• 8 January 2024 second announcement and opening of registration and contribution uploads

• 8 March 2024 deadline for submission proposals

• 17 may 2024 third announcement and preliminary program

• 14 june 2024 final announcement and final program, registration deadline

We are excited to announce that registration is now open for the BeXRB2024 workshop, scheduled to take place in Cape Town from July 31st to August 2nd, 2024.

Let us know about your favourite topics by registering at https://www.bexrb2024.org/inicio/registration before the deadline on March 8th, 2024.

The registration fee is set at 3000 RND (150 EUR), and payment details will be provided soon. For students based in African countries, registration is free.

While we are actively seeking funding to support young researchers and PhD students, regrettably, it is not feasible at this time. Any updates regarding this matter will be communicated through a subsequent announcement.
